VUB Workshop: “Online Disinformation and Electoral Regulation: evidence-based policy making”
VUB and the University of Sussex are co-organizing an expert workshop on online disinformation and electoral regulation on Wednesday 26 February at the Institute for European Studies (Rome Conference Room).
It will be an off-the-record working group, with a draft report of recommendations for combatting disinformation distributed in advance to participants for comment and critique (based on comparative evidence gathering across Europe, the Americas and the Commonwealth).
The VUB joint research into options for better regulation of disinformation has just been published in the Computer Law & Security Review, based on both a report for the European Parliament and a Guidebook for the Commonwealth.
Participants are drawn from the following stakeholder groups: European Parliament; European Commission; EDPS; national regulators; Platforms; Telcos; Content providers; Consumer representatives; Digital NGOs; Think tanks; Technical experts; Lawyers with policy influence.
The workshop is one of a series of four that will shape these recommendations for a final evidence-based policy report:
The workshops are funded by the Research England-Sussex Priorities Fund evidence based policy-making call.
